This film is hard to follow with lots of repeating, phantasmagorical imagery and odd dream logic. The premise will draw plenty of comparison to Inception but I think the major difference is that Paprika fully embraces how strange dreams can be. There is so much visual imagery to unfold and understand and it all relates to the psyches of the main characters. overall, this movie is strong, compelling, and experientially delightful. It’s not always important to have the animated realism to present a good animated feature…the suggestibility and the imagination of the human perception is sufficient to fill in the rest of the experience to make the movie-going event completely satisfying. Eight out of Ten Stars.
